Well, not exactly. But I am swapping the regular strength training workouts that I program in my membership, and do every single month alongside members, for lower intensity workouts like pilates, yoga and walking because I think my body really needs it. For a little back story, it's been a long six months of feeling tired and bloated and generally off, constantly battling fatigue and headaches and constipation, despite being a sustainable fitness and wellness coach who feels like she's doing all the right things. Have you been there before? Before this, I'd had my own struggles with motivation and consistency and grief and mental health and stress from work and life over the years, but I hadn't felt this. After getting tests done with my naturopath, and after visiting a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor for acupuncture last week, I know I have extremely low cortisol and low yin energy and liver qi stagnation. Basically, I stressed myself out for too long, depleted my adrenals and different types of energy, and here I am. So I'm taking another look at my routine and any of the things that may be causing stress (even though they don't feel inherently stressful to me) and changing them for the time being. That means no strength training workouts for the next month or so, and different ways of moving my body that hopefully cause less stress. I'm definitely sad about the change, and I'm already missing my workouts in the gym, but I'm trying to remind myself that what I've been doing for the last six months clearly isn't working, and I'm tired and exhausted and stressed, and I need to change something. If you're feeling like you're up against yourself right now, and like your current routine or practices aren't working, try asking yourself:
Spend 10 minutes journaling through the questions above and see where you land. Then make an action plan that can help you move forward in a productive way. See you next week, 💕 Morgan |
